Not so basic: Mega Monoline Brush
If you have had a look through Procreate’s in-built brushes, you may have come across the standard Monoline brush. I found that however, when using the pre-set brush it did have a few limitations - which lead to the creation of my 'Mega Monoline' brush version!
With the Mega Monoline set, you’ll get that same, classic round brush style, but with added smoothing and stabilisation for more streamlined results with each brush stroke. And while this brush may seem basic at first, you’ll be surprised at the versatility this brush provides.
The brush set contains three handy sizes, giving you quick access to a monoline brush for a range of drawing purposes.
Mega
The Mega Monoline brush version scales to the largest of the three, and is great for quickly filling in large areas or creating backgrounds.
The Midi Monoline brush is the mid-range size; this size is particularly useful when you need a more precise size for colouring in large areas, but is also great for chunkier lettering styles and pattern making.
Mini
And last but not least is the Mini Monoline version, which is useful for all kinds of hand lettering styles, drawing smooth outlines and creating the tiniest details.
Personally, I really enjoy using these monoline brushes for drawing Kawaii style illustrations; I have found the smooth, round edge of these brushes is very well suited to this particular drawing style. Doodles, zentangles, hand lettering and general colouring-in have also been a few of my most common uses for the monoline brush style.
And drawing aside, I have also found also found that the monoline brush is my favourite Eraser! Again the smooth, round edge makes it really easy to neaten up your drawings.
Sound like a useful brush to add to your Procreate Brush Library?
